UP IN THE AIR

  1. Kia Ora Antzel,

I’m Dani, one of the blog commenters for the Kaikohekohe cluster for the Summer Learning Journey. I have heard some great things about the learners in the Manaiakalani cluster so I thought I would jump on and check out some blog posts.

Well done for creating an attractive and very informative slideshow about Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. I knew they were flying planes around the same time but I didn’t realise that some of their major achievements happened within only years of each other. I can’t imagine how scary it must have been to fly solo in a plane for those distances. The planes were very different to the planes we have now and I’m glad our planes are safer now. Have you ever been in a plane anywhere? I actually went to Sydney this year in Australia, it was my first time visiting another country. The plane ride was exciting as first but got boring quickly!

As it is the holiday period many of the Summer Learning Journey team are currently away from work and are spending some time with their friends and family. This means that you would get many encouraging comments over this time. We want you to keep blogging and we will comment on as many of your posts as we can when everyone is back at work!

    Keep the blogging up!

    Blog ya later,

    Dani

  2. Malo Antzel! Thank you for your detailed and informative slide presentation on these two heroines of the skies! I particularly appreciated how you created a table of columns to show the differences between the flying careers of Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart - it made it easier for me as a reader to compare and contrast the information. I was wondering, now that you have done some research about pilots, would you consider training to fly one day? These days I suppose we have so many more choices as well by glider, helicopter, air balloon, paragliding (and even jet back!). In the future it looks like we could even space travel! Look forward to hearing your views.
