In the distance people were screaming  and frightened  of the fierce rough skin off the taniwha.

When I heard the powerful rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaaaaaa of the taniwha.  The people were covering their ears. When the people came closer to the taniwha the taniwha ate the people.
